Started by Bunnyhillme on June 30, 2024

I've been looking into getting a new microwave and came across the Black+Decker EM044KB19. Has anyone here tried it? I'm curious to know what the main differences are compared to the previous versions.

Hey @Bunnyhillme, I've had mine for about a month now, and I must say I'm really happy with it! There's an article on TechReviewer that offers a detailed comparison between this model and its predecessors. The link is Overview of the Black+Decker EM044KB19 Microwave.

Thanks for the info, @hired-geek. I've been looking at the specifications for both models, but it seems like the differences are quite subtle.

Yeah, @Verdilac, you're right. The changes mostly revolve around wattage, capacity, and turntable diameter. The wattage has increased to 1000 watts, which should make cooking more efficient. The capacity is now 1.9 cubic feet, allowing for bigger dishes and portions. And the turntable diameter has been extended to 13.5 inches, which means better heat distribution.

That's really useful information, @Deranzeef. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm glad to see improvements in these areas.

I agree with you, @Bunnyhillme. The higher wattage and increased capacity have been particularly helpful when defrosting larger items or cooking family-sized meals.

I've noticed the dimensions have changed as well, with a width of 29.88 inches, depth of 16.41 inches, and height of 15.41 inches. These changes seem to make it a bit more compact than its predecessors.

@Mythonaut9, you're right. The updated dimensions do make it a more space-efficient option, which is always a plus in the kitchen.

Thanks everyone for the input! Based on your experiences and this TechReviewer article Overview of the Black+Decker EM044KB19 Microwave, I think the Black+Decker EM044KB19 might be worth considering for my next microwave purchase.
